2. Overview of data processing
This website does not use cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not track individual visitors, and does not collect personal data (see section 3a). We do not process personal data through the mere use of this website beyond what is technically necessary (see section 3).
Third-party services integrated into this website (analytics, payment processors, affiliate programs, contact form) may process data when you interact with them. Details are provided in the respective sections below.
3. Server log files and hosting
This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you access this website, Cloudflare automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits, including your IP address, date and time of the request, pages accessed, and browser/OS information. This data is processed on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and efficient website delivery). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. 3a. Web Analytics
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service provided by Cloudflare, Inc. This service does not use cookies, does not track individual users, and does not collect personal data. It provides aggregated, anonymized metrics such as page views, referrers, and device types. No consent is required as no personal data is processed. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in understanding website usage). For details, see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
4. Email signup (newsletter, waitlist, Field Guide)
If you voluntarily submit your email address through one of our signup forms (e.g., Field Guide download, Namibia waitlist), your email address is transmitted to and processed by MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, Ground Floor, 111 Upper George's Street, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, Ireland). MailerLite acts as a data processor on our behalf pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Your data is used solely to deliver the content you requested. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email, or by contacting us at hello@the-roadtrip-series.com. Upon unsubscription, your data will be deleted from our mailing lists. For details on how MailerLite handles data, see their privacy policy.
5. Digital product purchases
Digital products (e.g., Fuji Recipes PDF) are sold through Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy, LLC, 222 S Main St #500, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, USA). When you make a purchase, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment data (name, email, payment information) as the Merchant of Record. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract performance). 6. Affiliate links and Amazon
Some pages - in particular the Gear page - contain affiliate links to Amazon (Amazon PartnerNet / Amazon Associates). When you click an affiliate link, Amazon may set cookies on your device to track the referral. This data processing is carried out by Amazon under their own responsibility. Legal basis for embedding the links: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). For details, see Amazon's privacy policy.
We may receive a small commission from Amazon at no additional cost to you. This does not influence our recommendations. We only link to products we personally own and use.
7. Contact form
If you use the contact form on this website, your name, email address, and message are transmitted to and processed by Formspree (Formspree, Inc., USA). Formspree acts as a data processor on our behalf. Your data is used solely to respond to your inquiry. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures at your request) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to inquiries). For details, see Formspree's privacy policy.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21). If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent supervisory authority is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen (LDI NRW, www.ldi.nrw.de).

9. Data retention
Email addresses collected through signup forms are stored until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Contact form submissions are stored by Formspree for up to 60 days and forwarded to us via email. Purchase data processed by Lemon Squeezy is retained according to their policies and applicable tax retention obligations. Server log files at Cloudflare are retained according to Cloudflare's retention policies.
Right of Withdrawal - Digital Products
All digital products sold on this website (e.g., PDF downloads) are delivered immediately after purchase as a digital download. By completing your purchase, you expressly consent to the immediate delivery of the digital content and acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal pursuant to § 356(5) BGB in conjunction with Art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU.
This consent is obtained during the checkout process provided by Lemon Squeezy before the order is finalized.
